Volunteer Appreciation

The Heart Behind the Mission

By William Grimes, CEO

Every organization has goals.

Every organization has programs, plans, and events.

But behind every successful mission are people willing to give their time, energy, and heart to something bigger than themselves.

At TARS Awareness Texas, our volunteers are the heartbeat of this organization.

They are the early mornings before events begin.

They are the extra hands during moments of chaos.

They are the encouraging words spoken to a nervous child.

They are the calm presence that helps families feel welcomed and supported.

Most of the work they do will never appear in headlines or social media posts.

But it matters deeply.

Service Without Recognition

One of the most remarkable things about volunteers is that they often serve without expecting recognition in return.

They show up because they believe in the mission.

They believe every child deserves inclusion.

They believe families deserve support.

They believe community matters.

That kind of commitment cannot be manufactured. It comes from character.

More Than Helping

Volunteering at TARS is more than simply helping at an event.

Our volunteers create environments where families feel safe, included, and valued.

Sometimes the smallest moments leave the biggest impact:

A conversation with a parent who feels understood

Encouraging a child to participate when they are unsure

Helping someone feel like they belong instead of feeling different

Those moments may seem small to the outside world, but to the families we serve, they can mean everything.

The Standard Our Volunteers Set

At TARS, we are proud of the culture our volunteers help create.

A culture built on:

Compassion

Patience

Accountability

Respect

Inclusion

Service

These values shape every interaction and every experience we provide.

Our volunteers represent the very best of what community should look like.

Gratitude Matters

Leadership often focuses on growth, planning, and organizational goals.

But moments of gratitude are important too.

So this month, I simply want to say thank you.

Thank you to the volunteers who continue showing up.

Thank you to those who quietly serve behind the scenes.

Thank you to those who support families with kindness and dignity.

Thank you for believing in this mission enough to give part of yourselves to it.

TARS would not be what it is without you.

Moving Forward Together

As we continue to grow, one thing will never change:

People will always matter more than programs.

Because programs only succeed when caring people bring them to life.

To every volunteer who has walked alongside TARS Awareness Texas — thank you for helping build something meaningful.

Your impact reaches further than you may ever realize.
