Building What Comes Next

Some of the most important work happens before anyone else can see it.

August has reminded me of that.

There is an exciting season of growth ahead for TARS Awareness Texas. New ideas are taking shape. Programs are developing. Partnerships are growing. Conversations are happening about what our families and our disability community need not only today, but in the years ahead.

But before an idea becomes something the public sees, there is a tremendous amount of work happening quietly behind it.

There are meetings.

Research.

Phone calls and emails.

Budgets.

Forms.

Partnership conversations.

Questions that lead to more questions.

Ideas that get revised, strengthened, or sometimes set aside entirely because they are not the right fit.

That work may never make it into a photograph or social media post, but it is an essential part of building something responsibly.

And that is what planning with purpose means to me.

It is not about filling a calendar with as many programs and events as possible. It is about asking why we are doing something, who it will serve, whether it reflects our mission, and whether we can do it well.

As TARS Awareness Texas grows, those questions become even more important.

We are no longer thinking only about the next event or the next month. We are thinking about sustainability. We are thinking about programs that can grow with our families. We are thinking about stronger community partnerships, broader opportunities for inclusion, educational resources, advocacy, and ways to bring families together.

Through TARS & Friends, we are also continuing to look beyond diagnosis and create opportunities where children and families of all abilities can connect, participate, and belong.

That kind of growth requires preparation.

It also requires patience.

One of the lessons I continue to learn as Founder is that not every good idea has to happen immediately.

Sometimes the responsible decision is to slow down.

Sometimes we need more information.

Sometimes we need the right partner.

Sometimes the timing simply isn’t right yet.

And sometimes something we have been working toward quietly finally comes together — and everyone sees the result without ever seeing the months of work that came before it.

That is part of trusting the process.

Trusting the process does not mean sitting back and hoping everything works out. It means doing the work carefully enough that when an opportunity arrives, we are prepared for it.

It means building the foundation before asking it to carry more weight.

As we look toward what comes next for TARS Awareness Texas, I am excited.

But more importantly, I am intentional.

I want our growth to mean something.

I want every program we develop to have purpose. Every partnership to have shared value. Every event to create connection. Every advocacy effort to move us closer to meaningful change.

And I want the families and communities we serve to know that when something new is announced, there has been thought, conversation, planning, and heart behind it.

There is a lot happening behind the scenes right now.

Some of it we can share.

Some of it isn’t ready yet.

But all of it is part of building the next chapter of this organization thoughtfully and responsibly.

So as we prepare for what comes next, we will keep doing what has brought us this far:

Listen carefully.

Plan intentionally.

Build collaboratively.

Stay rooted in our mission.

And trust that meaningful growth doesn’t have to happen overnight.

The work no one sees today is often what makes tomorrow possible.

And we are building tomorrow with purpose.
